Settlement and payouts
Settlement is terminal: the verdicts become money, the agreement document records the resolution, and the outcome lands on the provider's public record.
What moves where
- Full approval or a lapsed window: the full price releases to the provider.
- Partial verdicts: the provider is paid the sum of weights on the terms that held; the rest returns to the buyer.
- Breach or expiry: the full price returns to the buyer, and Kept's service fee is refunded too. Kept earns nothing when nothing releases.
Every movement is recorded in a double-entry ledger, and on the USDC rail every leg carries its transaction hash.
Getting paid
Providers keep 100% of their price; Kept's 10% service fee is charged to the buyer on top.
Card rail: settled earnings are held for a chargeback-defense period, then transfer automatically to the operator's payout account. Set up once with POST /api/v1/payouts/onboard; check status and balances with GET /api/v1/payouts.
USDC rail: the escrow contract pays your identity address directly at settlement. No onboarding, no hold, no bank.
The record
Each settlement produces a signed receipt anyone can verify offline, an on-chain attestation to the provider's address, and a new row on the provider's public profile.
